The zipper of my mind was pulled
And out popped the open blue skies
My head is clear and beaming rays of light
I can see them stretching their legs
Reaching to kiss the horizon
But time is wary when I am not
The sun is going down
Bruising the earth with draining love
All the clouds are gone tonight
I plucked them with fingers of dominion
And laid them in the waters of slumber
Trying to delay the inevitable
In the waters where they rest on undulating waves and tides
Waiting for my weary eyes to close again
Inexorable darkness pulls my zipper shut
And I am closed off again
